South Carolina, on the Atlantic, is not very mountainous. Nevertheless, there is good hiking in the Sumter National Forest (mountains, hills, creeks) and Francis Marion National Forest (hardwood forests, swamps, bogs).

With the Palmetto Trail underway, South Carolina will have its own 425 mile long trail.

The East Coast Greenway is supposed to extend into South Carolina.
